Our Story and Values

Shepherd Legal Indonesia was founded in late 2024 in Jakarta with one clear conviction: commercial disputes don’t need to drag businesses through years of uncertainty, cost, and emotional fatigue. In a legal landscape often slowed by procedural complexity and institutional inefficiency, we set out to build a firm that prioritizes clarity, negotiation power, and commercially intelligent litigation. Our mission is simple—deliver outcomes that matter, fast, clean, and strategically.

The firm was established by Marganda H. Hutagalung, S.H., M.Sc., a commercial litigator who has been practicing since 2013. Ganda holds a Master of Science in Crime and Criminal Justice from Leiden University and a Bachelor of Law from Universitas Indonesia, where he excelled as a national and international moot court competitor and coach. Before founding Shepherd Legal Indonesia, he spent over a decade practicing at top-tier and boutique dispute-resolution firms, representing major clients such as RedDoorz, Deliveree, Hutchison Ports, Pipa Mas Putih, PT Nusa Halmahera Minerals, and others across civil, commercial, regulatory, and complex corporate cases. His background in commercial disputes, regulatory compliance, PKPU/restructuring, and high-stakes litigation shapes the firm’s distinctive blend of legal strategy + financial intelligence + operational realism.

At Shepherd Legal Indonesia, our values are non-negotiable. We believe integrity isn’t a slogan; it’s a method. We do not engage in bribery of any kind. Our effectiveness comes from relationships, credibility, technical mastery, and creative, law-based problem-solving. We also believe that court and the police (although they might be necessary in some stages) should not be the first resort: Indonesia’s judicial system—while essential—can be slow, unpredictable, and costly. Many disputes are better resolved through sharp negotiation, commercial pragmatism, and structured settlement frameworks that protect value and restore business continuity. Litigation remains a powerful tool, but a targeted one—not a habit.
